Our hearts and prayers are with the people of Jamaica as Hurricane Melissa makes her way toward the island. 💚💛🖤
At Happily Ever After Travel, we’ve spent decades sending guests to this beautiful island known for its warm smiles, reggae rhythms, and breathtaking beaches. Seeing Jamaica face the threat of a major storm fills us with both concern and compassion.
While we continue to hope and pray for the best possible outcome, we do recommend that travelers scheduled to arrive soon consider moving their vacation to another island if they’re feeling anxious or unsure. It’s unlikely that Jamaica will be fully ready to receive guests immediately following the storm.
What You Should Know
If you’re currently booked to travel to Jamaica, please contact your travel advisor right away to review your options. Many Jamaica resorts—including Sandals and Beaches—are showing tremendous grace and flexibility, allowing guests to move their vacation to another island at no cost for a comparable room category.
Please note, however, that airfare costs may still apply.
-
✈️ Basic Economy fares are typically non-changeable and non-refundable.
-
🧳 If you purchased travel protection, it will only apply once there’s a covered reason—such as a canceled flight or resort closure.
-
💸 If you choose to move before that time, you may need to pay for new flights.
-
If your flight is later canceled, normal airline policies will determine whether you receive a refund or future credit.
A Little Perspective
Hurricane season in the Caribbean runs June through December, with August through October being the “hot months.” Some years pass quietly, while others remind us of nature’s power. Hurricanes are part of the natural rhythm of the tropics—just as the legendary 1918 storm forever changed Galveston Island, these events leave lasting marks on both the landscape and the hearts of those who call these islands home.
We can’t stop traveling because of it, but when storms do come, we must respond with grace, patience, and understanding.
A Gentle Reminder
This situation highlights why travel protection is so important, and why booking with a professional travel advisor makes such a difference. Having someone watching your trip, advocating for you, and offering solutions can ease stress and protect your vacation investment when life’s unexpected moments happen.
We’re here for you—always—with hearts that care and hands ready to help. 💖
Safe travels, and may God protect Jamaica and everyone in Hurricane Melissa’s path.
With love,
The Happily Ever After Travel Team
