If you’ve been dreaming of sailing with Disney Cruise Line right from Texas—this might be the moment you’ve been waiting for.

There’s been a lot of buzz lately about Disney expanding its presence at the Port of Galveston… and we’re here to give you the inside scoop in the most honest, helpful way possible.

Because while nothing has been officially announced by Disney (yet)… what we’re hearing is very exciting.

The Big Hint from Galveston’s Port Director

During the May 21, 2025 Port of Galveston Board Meeting, Port Director & CEO Rodger Rees made a statement that caught the attention of cruise lovers everywhere:

👉 Disney Cruise Line is expected to sail year-round from Galveston beginning in 2027.

That’s not a rumor from a message board… that’s directly from the port leadership.

And Yes… It’s Showing Up in Writing Too

Even beyond the meeting, this detail has appeared in official training materials from Visit Galveston (like the one shown below):

This adds another layer of credibility to what’s being discussed behind the scenes.

What Disney Has Not Confirmed (Yet)

Now let’s keep it real (because that’s how we do things around here 💛):

  • Disney Cruise Line has NOT officially announced year-round sailings from Galveston
  • Fall 2027 itineraries have NOT been released yet
  • No official ship assignment has been confirmed

So while all signs are pointing in a very exciting direction… we are still waiting on Disney to make it official.

Which Ship Could Sail from Galveston?

Here’s where experience and industry insight come into play.

We do know:

  • A 4th Wish-class ship is launching in fall 2027
  • Disney will be expanding deployment options globally

Based on current patterns, our best educated guess is:

👉 The Disney Dream could be repositioned to Galveston for year-round sailings

Right now, the Disney Dream sails from Fort Lauderdale, making it a strong candidate for redeployment as newer ships enter the fleet.

Again—this is not confirmed—but it’s a very strategic and realistic possibility.

When Could Disney Actually Announce This?

One of the most common questions we’re getting right now is:
“When will Disney confirm their 2027 Galveston plans?”

While nothing has been officially announced by Disney Cruise Line yet, we can look at historical patterns to guide us.

Based on past itinerary release schedules, Fall sailings are typically announced between May and August of the year prior.

👉 That means Fall 2027 itineraries are expected to be released sometime between May and August 2027.

However—and this is important—Disney can adjust timing at any point, and announcements can happen earlier or later without notice.

✨ In other words:
If you’re hoping to sail Disney from Port of Galveston year-round, this is the window to be watching closely.

And don’t worry… we’re already watching it for you. 💛

Why This Is a Big Deal for Texas Travelers

If this becomes official (and it’s looking promising), it would mean:

  • No flights needed for many families across Texas 🙌
  • More frequent Disney sailings from a convenient home port
  • Easier access to short getaways and longer Caribbean itineraries
  • The ability to sail Disney year-round—not just seasonally

For so many families, this turns a “maybe someday” trip into a let’s go.
